Start with Auto: I check the connection and choose a server. If you need a particular country, choose it on the Servers screen.
In Auto I check several routes to different countries at once, direct and through my server in Russia, and pick the one that answers and downloads faster. I remember a good route for a day, then check again. On Free I check only direct routes of the free servers.
The servers for mobile internet and the ordinary Russia location are outside Auto; you select them manually.
To see which route I use right now, turn on the protocol and connection line in Settings, Advanced: it appears on the home screen.
You can refresh latency and choose a server on the Servers screen. If the VPN is connected, I reconnect for you.
